Vinnie Moore - To The Core (2009) @320kbps

Vinnie Moore (guitar)
Tim Lehner (keyboards)
John "J.D." DeServio (bass instrument)
Van Romaine (drums).

For much of the early 21st century, six-string shred king Vinnie Moore focused primarily on serving as a replacement for Michael Schenker in UFO (issuing several albums). But as a result, his solo career suffered, as only a single solo studio release materialized (2001's Defying Gravity). That all changed, however, in 2009, with the arrival of his seventh solo album overall, To the Core. Not as over-the-top as his earlier solo outings, Moore now focuses on the importance of creating guitar-driven melodies (and sounding like a not-so-far distant cousin of Joe Satriani). In fact, in quite a few instances, Moore seems more concerned with creative a strong and sturdy groove ("Transcendence") rather than just soloing the night away. Elsewhere, you'll find the Saga-esque album opener, "Fly," the bluesy "Jigsaw," and the hard-rocking "Into the Open." As a result, Vinnie Moore can now be referred to as a "restrained shredder." ~ Greg Prato

Greek keyboardist/guitarist extraordinaire Bob Katsionis sets the tone on the inside of the Turn Of My Century CD with, "Speed Kills...Warp Speed Rules!" Then, Katsionis proceeds to blow your face off on both keyboards and guitar over the seventeen neo-classical and progressive instrumental tracks. His music features inspired melodies along with dreamy solos and oriental dances - all in a progressive/fusion "out-in-space" mood. Katsionis is known as THE keyboard player in Greece, but his facility on guitar will interest fans of the Guitar Nine site - this guy rocks with the best of them. He's also got no problem pumping blazing keyboard runs through a wah-wah pedal, which adds an even more guitaristic feeling to the proceedings.

Ron Jarzombek - guitars: The initiator of BLOTTED SCIENCE, Ron has long been hailed as one of the most singularly unique guitarists and brilliantly creative forces of the progressive vanguard. First coming to the world's attention via WATCHTOWER's ... Full Descriptionseminal 1989 tech thrash masterpiece, 'Control & Resistance', Ron further stunned prog connoisseurs with his abstract 90's outfit SPASTIC INK, put his signature stamp on the acclaimed GORDIAN KNOT debut album, and has toured the US, Europe, and Japan with fellow guitarist MARTY FRIEDMAN of Megadeth fame.Alex Webster - bass: Recognized as one of the premier bassists in extreme metal through his frenzied work with long running death metal icons CANNIBAL CORPSE, Alex was immediately up for the challenge of what would shape into BLOTTED SCIENCE when first contacted by Ron in 2005. Not only did Mr. Hammer Smashed Bass turn out to be the perfect deathtoned counterpart to Ron's patented madness, resulting in a heavily collaborative effort during the writing stages, Alex also delivers a jawdropping performance and gets to stretch musically beyond what die-hard fans have come to expect.Charlie Zeleny - drums: The last member to join the three-pronged alliance, Charlie was well prepared to claim the vacant BLOTTED SCIENCE drum throne following the departure of both original skinsman Chris Adler (Lamb of God) and then Derek Roddy (Hate Eternal, Nile). A member of fledgling experimental tech metal triumvirate BEHOLD...... THE ARCTOPUS and drummer-of-choice for Dream Theater keyboard whiz JORDAN RUDESS, Charlie came through under the gun and brings incredible dexterity as well as a fearless no-holds-barred approach to the project.

- H.D. Lorenz / bass

The fusion of jazz-rock with heavy metal is not an easy nor readily accepted form of music, and requires players of unusual vision and abilities. Berlin trio COUNTER-WORLD EXPERIENCE have been creating such a music since their inception in Hannover, 2002. The group is comprised of three of Germany's most accomplished young musicians, guitarist/synthist Benjamin Schwenen, Thorsten Harnitz on drums, and world-class bassist H.D. Lorenz. The sound is quite unique though they occasionally remind of a less grandiose PLANET X, with hints of KING CRIMSON, JOE SATRIANI and even NEBELNEST.
'Leaving Lotus' is their third album, described by Schwenen as "Cybernetic metal combining with smooth, Pat Metheny-like texturing."
Full of complexity, innovation and surprises, COUNTER-WORLD EXPERIENCE is a band that extends the power trio concept into the future and progresses the state of both metal and fusion.

Jason Becker - Discography

Jason Becker, (born July 22, 1969) is an American neo-classical metal guitarist and composer. At the age of 16, he became part of the Mike Varney-produced duo Cacophony with his friend Marty Friedman. They released Speed Metal Symphony in 1987 and Go Off! in 1988. Cacophony broke up in 1989 and Becker began doing solo work, having released his first album Perpetual Burn in 1988. He later joined David Lee Roth's band and recorded one album with him. However, Becker's success was hampered by his then-diagnosed Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and was given three to five years to live. In 1996, Becker eventually lost the ability to speak and now communicates with his eyes via a system developed by his father. Despite his disability, he continues composing by using a computer.

British composer, multi-instrumentalist virtuoso and inventor Alex Gregory was born into a family of 6th generation musicians and visual artists.
Gregory graduated from the University of Milan as a Classical Composer and was titled “Maestro” by H.M. Queen Elizabeth II Government in 1983.
Impressed by electric guitarists like Ritchie Blackmore, Allan Holdsworth, Jan Akkerman and others, the young composer found himself to be far more of a Rock’n’Roller than he could have ever conceived during his many years of strict studies.
This strong Rock element in conjunction with Alex’s love for the ancient melodies of Britain, popularized by virtuoso mandolinists, and the knowledge gained at collage of orchestral instruments and orchestration led to the invention of the 7 String Stratocaster (Gregory was issued with the only two patents ever issued on the 7 String Electric Guitar!) and a “Signature” deal with Fender Musical Instruments in 1987.
The top A string on the 7 String Stratocaster allowed Gregory to duplicate very complex violin parts, and, together with the further inventions of the “Heavy Metal Mandolin” and the “Piano Guitar”, in 1991 the young Maestro recorded “Paganini’s Last Stand” for Priority/ Capitol Records.
“Paganini’s Last Stand” was released in 1992 and became quickly a “must have” collector’s item, so much so that by 1996 it had reached Gold Status in Japan, as a bootleg, leading to a publishing deal in that country with Virgin/EMI and the official release by Fandango Records in 1997.

Critically acclaimed as one of the most creative, imaginative and talented guitarists on the planet and always at the forefront of technology Jennifer Batten returns for her third solo album in the captivating sonic tapestry of Whatever. Released as a dual pack of CD and DVD, the album is described in style by Jennifer herself as "guitronica". The album possesses plenty of guitar, but Whatever is heavily multi textured with a plethora of sounds and vocal samples, and has a humorous thread throughout. The music is also influenced by various ethnic cultures such as the African vibe in "Off the Deep End". On the albums creation Jennifer comments, "Originally I started writing a lot of these tracks for Jeff Beck when I was in his band. My third CD has been long overdue, so in the end I'm happy to have these tracks for myself! He got me interested in electronica and I'm very happy to have that as a new direction with all the amazing inspiring sounds available today." (Electric (Heavy)/Shred).
